Veterans Crisis Line
June 1, 2012, REAL Crisis Intervention Inc. began assisting the Veterans Crisis Line by being one of six back-up crisis centers in the United States. Since then, REAL has fielded 1187 calls from veterans and their families. Mary Smith, Executive Director, stated that she has been told to expect an average of 500 calls each month. The responsibility of the center is to provide initial consultation and assist the veterans in connecting to the VA in order for them to provide a variety of resources and direct assistance.
